On Monday, President’s Day, you have an chance to throw your support behind a different type of candidate, the arts community. Below are three inexpensive or FREE events that showcase different aspects of the arts scene in Seattle. Time to cast your vote!

Pipeline presents The Big Meal

7:30 p.m. at Solo Bar, 200 Roy St.

Event is FREE (donations accepted)

At it’s monthly table reading event, Pipeline, New Century Theater Company stages The Big Meal.  The play is set in a quintessential American restaurant, entire lives whiz by for a modern family whose stage and age are short-order fare. From birth to that inevitable last course – and every corn dog, calamari and Cadillac margarita in-between – a multi-generational potluck of characters live life’s major and minor moments around the dinner table. Expect humor and heartache as eight actors portraying 26 characters and five generations serve up a veritable theatrical feast.


7:00 p.m. & 9:30 p.m. at Can Can, 94 Pike St

Event is $8 in advance or $10 at the door

DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE at the historic Can Can with a double feature of operatic arias and duets from some of Seattle’s finest divas and divos.  Whether you go to the performance at 7:00 pm or 9:30 pm, it is sure to appeal to the early bird or night owl in all of us. An evening of fun and frolic, DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE is the perfect romantic evening to celebrate a belated Valentine’s Day with your duet partner or live it up in President’s Day style.

Two Stepping with Honky Tonkers

7:30 p.m. at Tractor Tavern, 5213 Ballard Ave NW

Event is $7 online or at door

Ricky Gene and The Honky Tonkers play Old-school, West-Coast Honky-tonk style country music. If you join them at Tractor Tavern on Monday, they will have you on your feet and learning to dance the 2 -Step. All skill sets welcome!
